The Lord has really shook me and I couldn’t help but share it with all of you, I hope it will speak to someone. I was reading my bible and a verse in Ecclesiastes just didn’t make much sense to me. It was Ecc 1:8 “All things are wearisome, more than one can say. The eye never has enough seeing, nor the ear it’s full of hearing”. And doing what anyone would do with a study bible I look at the notation below. It lead me to a string of verses, through Hab 2:5, Prov 27:20, and finally on to Prov 30:15-16. These verses talked about not only mankind being greedy but it made a connection to the grave saying it’s appetite is insatiable or unquenchable. “Why this connection made I asked?” And through more investigating the Lord revealed something to me. It was this,
The grave never says enough! It’s thirst is unquenchable, it’s in a pointless search for fulfilment. You see the grave wants us, it really wants us. But Christ being rich in mercy and compassion he wants us more!! The death that Christ payed took our place in what would be our final destination. But now that we have come to know him the grave is left desired after our current life. The enemy wants you because he knows he can’t have you. So the enemy will try to get you to think about the life that you have abandoned, the past life. The enemy tries to remind us of our past mistakes, our sins and our misguided beliefs to focus on our dead body. To try and take sight away from the strong, beautiful, LIVING SOUL looking at you in the mirror everyday. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says this “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:The old has gone, the new is here!” We are no longer defined by our past life. The grave has no hold on you, for it was conquered by our Lord.
Mark 8:34 says “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” That isn’t you anymore, let us lay down our expectations, our control and our fleshly desires, and let us pick up our cross. To choose our-self that would be a tragedy, but to follow him all the days of our life, that would be a life worth living. So lets no longer live our life in response to the grave, instead let's live our in response to his grace!!
